Exercise Science and Metabolic Disease Research Theme
About the Research Group
The Exercise Science and Metabolic Disease Research Theme investigates the role of exercise, physical activity, nutrition, and lifestyle factors in promoting health, enhancing human performance, and preventing and managing chronic diseases. The group focuses on understanding the physiological, behavioural, and environmental determinants of cardiometabolic health, cardiovascular function, and athletic performance across diverse populations.
Research within this theme includes exercise physiology, sports performance, nutrition, cardiovascular physiology, chronic disease prevention and management, diabetes research, body composition, and translational exercise interventions. The group aims to develop evidence-based strategies that improve health outcomes, inform clinical practice, and contribute to public health and sports performance initiatives through interdisciplinary collaboration.
The theme provides a structure for collaborative research activities encompassing exercise physiology, nutrition, cardiovascular physiology, chronic disease research, the 91心頭利 Cricket Research Hub, and translational clinical research conducted through Active Care Clinic.
