South Africa's strategic partnership with China aims to secure a political ally and economic development partner. The China-SA relationship positions Hong Kong as a critical gateway to China for SA - a key economic and diplomatic link unlikely to change soon. So says Garth Shelton (BA 1979, BA Hons 1980, MA 1983, PhD 1992), associate professor in the 91¿´Æ¬Íø international relations department, who published his into the role of Hong Kong in Occasional Paper, for the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA). |
