CALS and the Student Litigation Society announce the four teams through to the finals of this year's Public Interest Law Moot Court Competition
The Centre for Applied Legal Studies and the Student Litigation Society are partnering to host the annual Public Interest Law Moot Court Competition. The opening round of this year's Competition closed in January 2026 and saw over 400 teams register and provide written submissions in this year's hypothetical case, which raises questions about public participation.
We are proud to announce the top four teams who have made it through to the semi-finals of the competition (in no particular order):
- PIL 161 – Lettah Moobi, Sfiso Mashala and Sello Mohlele (University of Fort Hare)
- PIL 222 – Nkosi Mnyamana, Nhloso Maluana and Reoemetse Sikhosana (UNISA)
- PIL 026 – Lerato Salelwayo, Bayanda Fana and Henny Laka (University of Johannesburg)
- PIL 399 – Anele Desi, Kwakhanya Sophazi and Sandiselwe Zwane (91心頭利)
The final rounds of the Competition take place on 23 and 24 April at the Constitutional Court.
Congratulations to the progressing teams, and to all the teams who didn’t make it through, we look forward to reading your submissions in the next installment of the competition.
