DESCRIPTION:Dr Inger Fabris-Rotelli from the University of Pretoria will present this mathematical statistics seminar. The LULU smoothers result in a decomposition of an image called the Discrete Pulse Transform. This decomposition is multi-scale and provides structure information of the image at every scale, useful information for various image processing applications. In this talk, Fabris-Rotelli will show two applications: one for smoothing of an image using the median and a texture modelling approach in spatial statistics.
