This year’s speaker, lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa, is a prominent freedom of expression campaigner in Zimbabwe, a country where journalists have been frequently harassed and persecuted. Mtetwa has defended journalists at great personal risk. In 2005, she won the International Press Freedom Award of the Committee to Protect Journalists.

She has litigated on human rights issues since 1990 with an emphasis on Freedom of Expression and Freedom of the Media.
